Elisabeth Mann Borgese, youngest daughter of the German author Thomas Mann, was a founding member of the environmental organization The Club of Rome. Giuseppe Antonio Borgese, an Italian-American author and a political philosopher, was born near Palermo, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1931.
